President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria has issued a directive mandating all serving ministers to reduce their convoys and security teams immediately.

During an address at the State House, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of this decision, stating that it is necessary for all cabinet members to adhere to the new regulations. The directive limits the official convoys of ministers and heads of agencies to just three vehicles, with no additional vehicles permitted.

This move follows earlier reductions made by the president in January, where he cut his own foreign entourage from 50 to 20 and limited the Vice President’s entourage to five.

Under the new guidelines, ministers are instructed to maintain a security detail of just five personnel, comprising four police officers and one Department of State Services (DSS) agent.

The president has made it clear that this directive is aimed at curbing excessive government spending. He warned that any minister who refuses to comply with this order will face immediate dismissal.
