BUHARI’S DEATH: The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent a delegation to convey the corpse of late Former President, Mohammadu Buhari to Nigeria.

The burial of the late presidential will be done today Monday , the 14th day of July , 2025 as Nigerians are waiting to receiving his corpse for the final committal to the mother earth.

9News Nigeria reports that , the delegation has arrived London and were received by the family of the departed former president at the time of filling this report this Monday morning.

Recall that the death of Former President of Nigeria, late Buhari was announced Sunday morning by his family and conveyed to Nigerians by his special Adviser on Media, Garba Shehu.

Vice President Shetima early this Monday morning, arrived in London in the company of the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, on the directive of my boss, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

VP led delegation was received on arrival by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, and the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum.

It is expected of the VP delegation to accompany the remains of the former President to Nigeria for burial in Daura, Katsina State as scheduled by his family, 9News Nigeria reports.

Meanwhile, the former leader died in London after a brief illness. He has officially confirmed dead on Sunday , the 13th day of July, 2025. This confirmation was certified by a London clinic where Buhari was taken treatment.😭

Former President, Muhammadu Buhari has been confirmed dead against all rumours that Buhari has since died in same London years back while his tenure ran till Tinubu succeeded him.

Such rumours held no water because Buhari successfully ran his tenure and duly handed over to Tinubu in 2023. Nigerians will really miss him.

However, the confirmation of Buhari’s death was posted by his former aide, Bashir Ahmad, and his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Sunday 13th, July, 2025 and made available to 9News Nigeria.

Garba Shehu short statement reads:

“The family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London. May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin.”

At the moment , while Nigerians are waiting for the arrival of his corpse for burial, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent his condolence message to the family and it reads:

Condolence message by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Communicated

It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that I received the news of the passing of His Excellency, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd), GCFR, my predecessor, who departed this life today, Sunday, July 13, 2025, at a hospital in the United Kingdom.

President Buhari was to the very core, a patriot, a soldier, a statesman. His legacy of service and sacrifice endures. He served Nigeria with unwavering dedication, first as a military leader from January 1984 to August 1985, and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023. Duty, honour, and a deep commitment to the unity and progress of our nation defined his life.

He stood firm through the most turbulent times, leading with quiet strength, profound integrity, and an unshakable belief in Nigeria’s potential. He championed discipline in public service, confronted corruption head-on, and placed the country above personal interest at every turn.

In this moment of national mourning, I extend my deepest condolences to his beloved wife, Aisha, with whom I have been in constant touch, his children, the entire Buhari family, and all who knew and loved him.

I also extend my condolences to the government and people of Katsina State, most especially the people and traditional leaders of Daura Emirate.

We honour his service. We reflect on his legacy. And we pray for the peaceful repose of his soul.

As a mark of respect to our former leader, I have directed that all national flags fly at half-staff across the country for seven days from today.

I have also summoned an emergency Federal Executive Council session on Tuesday, dedicated to his honour.

The Federal Government will accord President Buhari full state honours befitting his towering contributions to our country.

May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.

And may his life continue to inspire generations of Nigerians to serve with courage, conviction, and selflessness.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR
President, Federal Republic of Nigeria
