REJOINDER : Impeachment Looms In Imo Assembly- Leadership Of The House Still Intact

🟢The Newspaper publisher dished out cooked lies to disrupt the smooth leadership of IMHA.

Following the recent Newspaper publication in Imo state which alleged that impeachment is looming in the Imo state House of Assembly, Dr Samuelson Iwuoha has stated openly the obvious stand in the said cooked stories.

The original copy of the rejoinder reads thus:

If anybody had told me that the Publishers of IMO TRUMPETA NEWSPAPER would match their brake in criticizing the Imo State Government ably led by His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma after their opposition political party, PDP, was roundly defeated in the November 11, 2023 Governorship election, I wouldn’t have believed it.

TRUMPETA NEWSPAPER is the opposition sponsored local tabloid and the Publishers are not only card carrying members of the defeated Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, but one of them was a National Officer of the party.

I am therefore not shocked that the Newspaper has continued to dish out false and unsubstantiated news to the unsuspecting reading public, just to discredit the People Oriented 3-R leadership in the state.

Therefore, the Newspaper’s WEEKEND TRUMPETA Edition of Friday January 26, 2024, with the caption, IMPEACHMENT LOOMS IN IMO ASSEMBLY , should be seen as one of their attempts to discredit the State government, this time, the Legislative Arm Of Government, all in the clandestine bid to throw spanners in the wheel of Imo progress.

In the publication, the Newspaper made the following allegations :

  1. That our Distinguished Honourable Members are no longer comfortable with the leadership of the House (Principal Officers).
  2. That frantic efforts are being made to change the leadership.
  3. That Honourable Members are accusing the Speaker, Rt Honourable Chike Olemgbe, of inexperience.
  4. That the Rt Honourable Speaker is NOT OUTSPOKEN AND NOT FORCEFUL , and as a result, the Executive Arm has been denying Honourable Members their rights.
  5. That those surrounding the Speaker are his problems.
  6. That the Deputy Speaker, Rt Honourable Amara Iwuanyanwu, is the Defacto Speaker, and overshadows the Speaker.
  7. That the Majority Leader, Rt Honourable Kanayo Onyemaechi, is also part of the problem, as he is in league of the lawmakers who maltreat their colleagues, and see them as errand boys.

It is very unfortunate that those bent on destabilizing the state have refused to give up their evil plans, hence they have shifted their attention to the legislative arm, and true to type, IMO TRUMPETA NEWSPAPER allowed themselves to be used to make the above allegations, even when it is clear to every discerning mind that the Imo State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt Honourable Chike Olemgbe is now on one solid page, with our Distinguished Honourable Members carrying out the assignments of Lawmaking, Oversight And Appropriation, for which they were elected.

Nevertheless, I step out to refute the allegations against the Honourable Members of the Imo State House of Assembly :

The opposition, using the IMO TRUMPETA NEWSPAPER as their warhead, is disturbed that the Legislative Arm of Government is working harmoniously with all the other Arms of Government, and ensuring Separation of Power, which ultimately has led to the consolidated development in the state, which is very visible. I

t is therefore an insult taken too far to accuse the Speaker of inexperience. As Speaker, Rt Honourable Chike Olemgbe is effectively piloting the affairs of the Assembly and guarding it against public ridicule. He has used his office to bring legislative sanity and stability in the House, hence all the Honourable Members are operating on one legislative page.

Just last December 2023, His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma ensured the delivery of Brand New SUV vehicles to Honourable Members, to ease their movements, and their other rights, as lawmakers, have not been denied.

One therefore begin to wonder from where the allegation that “Mr Speaker is NOT OUTSPOKEN AND NOT FORCEFUL, and as a result, the Executive Arm has been denying Honourable Members their rights” came from ………. Perhaps, the opposition expect Mr Speaker to be fighting the Executive Arm. This is their only idea of leadership. Fighting, Fighting and Fighting. No wonder their party is in shambles.

I was amused when the Deputy Speaker, Rt Honourable Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu was wrongly accused of being the Defacto Speaker, and that he reportedly overshadows the Speaker. This is a castrated lie from the deformed opposition, using IMO TRUMPETA NEWSPAPER to peddle falsehood.

In the first place, Rt Honourable Chike Olemgbe has been presiding over Plenary in the Assembly Chambers. He runs the affairs of the 10th House. Rt Honourable Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, as Deputy Speaker, is only a stabilizing factor. The prolific lawmaker is not and cannot be Defacto Speaker ( whatever that means), and cannot be overshadowing the speaker.

The Speaker has his responsibilities as speaker, while the Deputy Speaker has his own responsibilities as Deputy Speaker. One can therefore imagine the level of frustration of the opposition, having failed woefully in the last Governorship election, hence they are now attempting to instigate crisis between the speaker and the deputy speaker, by making unfounded allegations. These are fat lies dressed in blackmail robe, aimed at causing instability in the House.

Although Opposition is the Beauty of Democracy, IMO TRUMPETA NEWSPAPER should know that blackmail and peddling of falsehood against the Imo State Government, especially, the legislative arm, cannot be seen as playing the role of opposition.

The Imo State House of Assembly therefore, cannot be distracted by the false publication of IMO TRUMPETA NEWSPAPER . Rather, the Assembly is tirelessly working round the clock to ensure that the purpose driven leadership of His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma continue to deliver more Dividends of Democracy to the People of Imo State, through Lawmaking, Oversight and Appropriation, especially now that the Governor is in his second tenure.

I Rest My Pen.

Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha reports from IMHA Owerri.
