Governor Babagana Umara Zulum said security remains the greatest challenge and concern for Borno State.
He said this during his Democracy Day broadcast on Friday.
Zulum reported that security forces rescued 434 women and children from Boko Haram captivity this year.
He called the rescue proof of the commitment of armed forces and security agencies.
Zulum thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for support in tackling insecurity.
He assured citizens that his government will keep working with the Federal Government and security agencies, aiming to secure the release of everyone still in captivity.
Zulum said the government has not forgotten Chibok girls and victims of Dille/Mussa abduction.
He pledged that the administration remains committed to their safe return.
Zulum stated that Borno has faced insurgency, terrorism, displacement, and destruction for over a decade.
He said the overall security situation in the state is stable.
He credited the stability to sacrifices of security personnel and cooperation of citizens.
The governor added that his administration provided hundreds of operational vehicles, motorcycles, and security gadgets in the last year.
The government also supplied logistics support to security agencies.
Zulum mourned security personnel and civilians killed in the conflict and sent condolences to their families and loved ones.
Zulum promised that support for security agencies will continue until peace is restored.
He said terrorism and other criminality will be decisively dealt with.
He pledged to hand over a more secure and stable Borno State on May 29, 2027.
