Sen. Orji Kalu Bags Southwest Award as Best Performing Legislator 

Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has for the second time in a row received a special recognition award as the Most Performing Senator in Nigeria by renowned Southwest publication organisation known as the South West First Alert Magazine. 

The group led by its publisher, Mr Charles Oladokun Aridunnu Omo presented the award to the Abia North Senator at his National Assembly, Abuja office on Wednesday.

According to Oladokun the award to Senator Kalu is in recognition and appreciation of his  outstanding relentless efforts and tremendous contributions in putting SOUTHEAST NIGERIA on a good and productive governance path. 
Oladokun said that with leadership service precision Orji Kalu expedited the construction of additional infrastructural projects within and across his Senatorial District coupled with massive skill empowerment to his constituents as an improvement to his achievements in the year 2020.

Recall that in the 2020, Orji Kalu a first time Senator bagged the same award in recognition of his efforts at delivering the dividends of democracy to his constituents in less than a year in office and giving prominence to the South-East in the 9th National Assembly, 

The group mentioned that it had taken a cursory look at the impact made by Senator Kalu to his constituents since his election into office, highlighting the construction of 19 roads, reconstruction and renovation of primary schools, reviving of abandoned power plants, sponsorship of notable motions and bills as some of the factors that necessitated the award.

Presenting the award to Kalu on Wednesday , Oladokun described Kalu as the Most influential Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, whose legacies and contributions cannot be overemphasised.

He said “This is the way SOUTHWEST FIRST ALERT MAGAZINE would like to appreciate your outstanding efforts and tremendous contributions in putting SOUTHEAST NIGERIA on a good and productive governance path. 
“As one of the most influential SENATORS IN NIGERIA , your legacies and contributions cannot be overemphasized. We recognize your achievements, indelible impacts end uncommon outstanding performance at the National Assembly and your senatorial district. 
“Most importantly, the amazing empowerment you did recently for the good people of the SOUTH-EAST REGION. This is one of the reasons you MERIT THIS AWARD. We are extremely grateful to you for putting Nigeria first on your scale of leadership performance, he added.

Kalu a former Governor of Abia state has since his assumption into office as a Senator in the 9th Senate bagged a notable number of awards from prestigious organisations in recognition of his leadership drive. 
Some his achievements include the facilitation of over 50 Road Projects,  distribution of over 5000 sewing machines to tailoring artisans, provision of over 3000 motorcycles to farmers, sharing of 1500 generating sets to artisans, distribution of learning materials and the renovation and reconstruction of the entire public schools in his Senatorial District , installation of motorised borehole water projects among others.
Other special recognition awards bestowed on Orji Kalu include; “Youth Leadership Award” by the Nigerian Diaspora Youth Ambassadors” (NDYA) ; “constituency development” award by the Senate Press Corps ; Honorary Fellowship Award” by the Chartered Institute of Project managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) among other notable Honours.
Responding, Senator Kalu thanked the organisers for finding him worthy again to be the recipient of such a category of award saying that it was an encouragement to do more.
He added that during his remaining tenure as Senator and principal officer he will focus on empowerment and the facilitation of more infrastructural development to his constituents and the South-East at large as a means of improving the lives of his people.
