The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, to life imprisonment following his conviction on all seven counts of terrorism charges preferred against him by the Federal Government, South-East leaders says they would explore a political solution for his release, calling for calm.
Speaking on behalf of Ndigbo leaders, the Deputy Speaker, Federal House Representatives, Ben Kalu, says all hope is not lost as Political solution is underway to secure Kanu’s release.

In a statement by the deputy speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, Kalu expresses optimism that Kanu would be freed through a political approach.
Meanwhile, the Indigenous People of Biafra has rejected the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja sentencing its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, to life imprisonment on seven terrorist-related charges.
In a statement by its Spokesman, Emma Powerful, the group insists that Kanu committed no offence known to Nigerian law and maintains that his agitation amounted only to self-determination, which it argues is a protected right under international conventions.
Powerful faults judgement delivered by Justice James Omotosho, accusing the Judge of refusing to apply Section 36 (12) of the 1999 Constitution, which states that a person shall not be convicted of an offence unless it is defined in a written law.
