Group under the ageis of Good Governance Advocates has called on Senator Rochas Okorocha to drop him presidential ambition having gone through his standard of leadership examplified while he was the governor of Imo state.
The group through its co-ordinator Ikedi Ofoegbu made this statement available to the press on Monday 31-01-2022.
He writes: We are appaled by your shamless poise to contest for the president of Nigeria after your abysmal reign as Governor of Imo State.
Your boldness amidst your infamous tenure in Imo state was characterised by nepotism, looting of public funds, poor infrastructural development, fraudulent conversion of government and privately owned property, and general abuse of office to which you have been indicted by the report of 2 independent judicial panel of inquiries set up by the people you governed for 8 years.
You were caught on tape boasting in your native language that even the state government and your political enemies do not have the kind of money you have at your disposal.
We ask, sir, as a governor, your were not to engage in any profit venture while in office, how then did amass the kind of wealth you boast to have?
Here comes the answer…from looting of the resources and wealth of imo state government from 2011-2019 as follows:
- Misappropriation of Erosion control fund for imo state, particularly for your kinsmen Urualla, in ideato North LGA of the state ravaged and separated from the world by huge Gully erosion totaling #4 billion naira.
- Ecological fund for other erosion control programs in imo state of about #25 billion naira.
- Imo state share of Paris club refund totaling #120 billion naira.
- Imo state share of Excess crude account of about #100 billion naira.
- Federal government bailout fund for payment of salaries and pension in imo state #100 billion.
- Revenue as oil producing state from 2011-2019 #360 billion.
- Local government fund from 2011-2019 totaling #233.3 billion naira.
And so much others which were not accounted for either in cash at the bank or feasible project on ground anywhere in imo state except your massive estate at a location called spilbat, Amakohia in Owerri, Imo State.
In your nepotistic tendencies, your failure to install your son in law as your successor saw the fulfilment of your promise to make imo state ungovernable by your conversion of the state security network , Imo security network (ISN) to Eastern Security Network (ESN) armed them with state sponsored pump action guns and unleashed unimaginable terror on your people, with record deaths, arson, cannibalism and killing of traditional rulers who are opposed to your excesses.
We join in the call for your prosecution by anti corruption agencies to with EFCC and ICPC. With these allegations, we do not think you are worthy to bear the trust burden of Nigerians to be the president.
Your declaration to contest the presidential elections in Nigeria is a show of crass hypocrisy and mockery of democracy at the highest order. We humbly advise you to sheath this agenda and devoted time to purge your sins with the anti graft agencies and till then rest. From yours truly, Ikedi ofoegbu.
