Top Industry Leaders Endorse Groundbreaking Nigerian Crude Oil Refining Summit 2024

The inaugural Nigerian Crude Oil Refining Summit, scheduled for October 7th and 8th, 2024, at the prestigious Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos, has received formal endorsements from prominent industry figures. Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, and Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President and Chairman of Dangote Refinery, have all confirmed their support and participation as keynote speakers.

Their endorsement was secured during courtesy visits by the Crude Oil Refinery-owners Association of Nigeria (CORAN), led by Chairman Mr. Momoh Jimah Oyarekhua, to their offices in Lagos and Abuja.

“The commitment of Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, and Alhaji Aliko Dangote to this summit underscores its significance in shaping the future of Nigeria’s oil refining industry. Their insights and leadership will be crucial as we work towards transforming Nigeria into a net exporter of petroleum products,” said Oyarekhua.

The summit, themed “Transforming Nigeria into a Net Exporter of Petroleum Products,” is timely, as the country faces critical decisions in the downstream oil sector amidst deregulation. The event will serve as a platform for stakeholders to discuss investment opportunities, operational sustainability, and the evolving regulatory landscape that will shape the future of refinery businesses in Nigeria.

Participants will explore ways to create a competitive market, attract international investments, and enhance the efficiency of domestic refineries. The summit will also focus on fostering a stable and transparent regulatory environment that encourages investment while protecting consumer interests. Additionally, the event will promote collaboration among regulators, crude oil producers, and refinery operators to ensure a consistent and competitively priced supply of feedstock, essential for the sustainable operation of refineries.

“We believe this summit will not only address current challenges but also pave the way for new opportunities in Nigeria’s refining sector, driving both economic growth and energy security,” Oyarekhua added.

The Nigerian Crude Oil Refining Summit 2024 is poised to be a landmark event, featuring keynote addresses, panel discussions, and networking opportunities with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry experts, and international investors.

The Crude Oil Refinery-owners Association of Nigeria (CORAN) remains dedicated to advocating for policies that foster investment and growth in Nigeria’s oil refining sector, ensuring its long-term sustainability and significant contribution to the nation’s economic development.
