Nigerian troops have recorded significant successes in ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations, recovering a cache of weapons, explosives, and other combat equipment from fleeing criminal elements.
Military authorities disclosed that troops operating under various security formations intensified offensive operations against terrorist and bandit enclaves, forcing several suspects to abandon arms and logistics items during encounters with security forces.
In Kebbi State, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA reportedly launched a coordinated assault on suspected Lakurawa terrorist hideouts in Dandi Local Government Area.
The operation compelled the insurgents to retreat, leaving behind rocket-propelled grenade launchers, RPG warheads, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), motorcycles, battery chargers, and other items.
Security officials said the troops suffered no casualties during the operation.
The military described the offensive as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and deny criminal groups freedom of movement across the North-West.
Meanwhile, in the North-East, troops sustained pressure on terrorist elements through intelligence-led operations aimed at disrupting insurgent activities and supply chains.
Recent operations led to the recovery of explosives and ammunition, while suspected collaborators and logistics suppliers linked to terrorist groups were apprehended for further investigation.
Security authorities said the latest recoveries demonstrate the effectiveness of ongoing military operations designed to degrade the operational capabilities of terrorists, bandits, and other criminal groups threatening peace and security across the country.
