Two African women apprehended with 37.87kg drugs worth $8.6m after arrest of Nigerian accomplice in India

In a major drug hall in India touted as the biggest ever by the Karnataka State Police, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) Sleuths of Mangaluru City Police arrested two African women and seized 37.87kg of MDMA, estimated to be worth, Rs 75 Crove.

While some publications reported that the arrested women are Nigerian Nationals, Times of India identified the accused as Banta Fanta, alias Adonis Jabulile, 31, from Agbovillae, South Africa, currently residing in Vipin Garden, Newada, New Delhi and Abigail Adonis, alia Olijo Evans, 30, from Pretoria, South Africa, residing in Malviya Nagar, New Delhi.

City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal told reporters on Sunday, March 16, 2025 that the operation was part of a six-month long investigation, leading to the arrest of Nigerian National identified as Peter Ikedi Belonwu, said to be a member of the drug smuggling and district syndicate.

The case is still under investigation, with authorities working to uncover the entire network behind the smuggling and distribution of MDMA in Karnataka, India.
