The Federal Government yesterday rejected calls by the Nigerian Governor’s forum {NGF} to increase prices of fuel.
The Forum had last Wednesday recommend fuel to be sold for N408.5/litre and N380/litre,and they also called for the total removal of fuel subsidy.The federal Government’s rejection was contained in a statement issued and signed by the minister for state petroleum resources, Timipre Silva in Abuja on Friday and Obtained by 9News Nigeria.
The statement ruled out in totality any hike in prices of fuel soon,as the current price will be maintained till further notice.The minister strongly urged the Marketers not to engage in any activity (s) that will hinder the supply of fuel to the consumers,stating clearly that any Marketer,found wanting will be dealt with severely.
The minister also assured Nigerians,to avoid Panic buying as the Stock was adequate and will reach all.
