The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stirred fresh reactions with a blunt political declaration outlining his governing philosophy and personal approach to leadership.
Speaking during a recent engagement in Abuja, Wike was quoted as saying:
“If you do for me, I do for you. If you fall for me, I fall for you. If you push me, I push you. If you hate me, I hate you.”
The statement, which has circulated widely across political and social platforms, is being interpreted as a reflection of the minister’s no-nonsense and transactional style of politics.
Wike, known for his outspoken remarks since assuming office as FCT Minister, has consistently maintained that governance in the capital territory must be driven by results rather than sentiment.
In previous engagements, he has repeatedly warned against what he describes as blackmail and political pressure, insisting that his focus remains on infrastructure delivery, urban renewal, and administrative discipline in the FCT.
The latest remarks have, however, triggered renewed public debate over tone and temperament in public office, with observers divided over whether the statement reflects political realism or a hardline approach to leadership.
As of press time, there has been no official clarification or correction issued by the minister’s office regarding the context of the statement.
