Home was made on Monday as Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi was greeted with jubilation and excitement as the hospital moved more departments to the gigantic specialty clinic at the permanent site. The departments moved included the General Outpatient Department (GOPD) and the National Health Insurance (NHIS) and Clinic.

This movement and relocation of these departments according to the Ag. Chief Medical Director, Dr. Joseph Ugboaja is in line with the management’s resolve to develop the permanent site which will help in achieving the new vision of the hospital. “My vision is to transform NAUTH to one of the top 5 hospitals in the country. One of our key priority area is infrastructural development at the permanent site. The others are human capital development, acquisition of state of the art equipment, quality improvement and e- medicine & use of ICT”, Ugboaja said.

The young and energetic acting CMD who heads the hospital’s committee on PPP further said that his administration will utilize the Public Private Partnership platform (PPP) to provide the necessary funding for the projects. “we will leverage greatly on the federal government’s policy on PPP to achieve our objects. Fortunately, we have public spirited individuals and corporate organizations who have indicated interest in Partnering with us to transform the hospital to one of the best in Nigeria.”

“The next phase of movement which will take place on the 15th of February 2021 will involve all the remaining clinics in the hospital including that for the women and children”, he also said.

The obviously elated Ag. Chief Medical Director thanks the board members especially the Board chairman, Chief Ezekiel Afukonyo for all their support, passion and commitment towards the movement to the permanent site.

He recalled that relocation of the hospital to the permanent site has been a cardinal objective of the present board.
With the relocation of more departments of the hospital to the permanent site within one week of assumption of office, the Ag. CMD has further demonstrated his genuine commitment towards achieving the vision of transforming NAUTH into one of the best hospitals in Nigeria.

He needs the assistance and support of all the stakeholders to achieve the great task.
Recall that last week, upon taking over the mantle of leadership of the hospital, the acting CMD embarked on courtesy calls to the community stakeholders topmost of which were the Traditional rulers of the host communities to enlist their support and cooperation in transforming the hospital. We learnt that the visit is already yielding fruits.
With the acting CMD, Dr. Joseph Ugboaja, NAUTH Nnewi is in safe hands & he will lead the NAUTH to the promise Land.
