Kayode Fayemi, Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, will formally declare his intention to run for President of Nigeria on Wednesday in Abuja, 9news Nigeria has learned.
In a statement issued to journalists on Tuesday, his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, confirmed this.
According to him, Fayemi’s declaration on Wednesday, titled ‘Unveiling My Nigeria Agenda,’ will put to rest speculations about whether or not he will run for President.
Oyebode stated that his principal had discussed his intention to run for President with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), traditional rulers, and political leaders from across the Federation.
‘2023: Fayemi Joins Presidential Race, Unfolds Agenda Following Nationwide Consultations With Leaders,’ read the statement.
“Dr Fayemi’s engagements with political and traditional leaders went hand in hand with consultations with his colleague governors, particularly those elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress,” it said in part. As of today, he has met with and shared his vision with no less than 20 of the 22 APC governors as part of the consultation process that is expected to last until the party’s primaries later this month.”
