… opens Senatorial District office
The Senator Representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Senator Ekong Sampson has reiterated his resolve to fulfill the promises he made to the people of Eket Senatorial District.
This was made known during the commissioning of his constituency office located at Atabong road in Eket on Friday, September 21,2023.
In his welcome address, the Senior Legislative Aide to the Senator, Sir Michael Essang applauded Senator Ekong Sampson for hitting the ground running through
the establishment of the constituency office which he said will enable the people an easy access whenever they needed the attention of the Senator. He described Senator Sampson as a very humane personality who would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the people of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District were equitably represented in the upper house in the national assembly. He called on the people to avail themselves of the opportunity provided by the establishment of the office to make their inputs through proposals to the Office of the Senator.
The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Nduese Essien, a former Minister of Housing in his remarks, showered encomiums on Senator Sampson describing him as a man of peace and competence.
The Senatorial District Political Leader said Senator Ekong Sampson has proved his mettle in whatever leadership capacity he found himself.
The Elder Statesman who took time to eulogize the virtues of the amiable Senator said Sampson, having worked as a Legislative Aide to Senator Udo Udoma for four years in addition to his intimidating political profile was on a veritable platform to do better than his contemporaries in the Senate.
He pledged the support of the people of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District for the Senator at all time as far as he performs creditably well saying, the Senatorial District shall remain open for his subsequent exploit.
Several goodwill messages were sent in from all the stratas of government in the state including the Senator Representing Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Aniekan Bassey who attended the occasion in person. The royal fathers from the Senatorial District especially the paramount Rulers of Eket, Edidem E.C.D Abia, Mbo, Edidem Okon Asukwo Abang, and that of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Edidem Akpan Akpan Ekpene who were physically present at the occasion.
Responding, Senator Ekong Sampson thanked the people of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District for their show of love and solidarity which he said were never taken for granted. He promised to stand by the people he is representing in their moment of needs especially in the area of empowerment and employment.
He used the occasion to inform the people of his activities in red chamber so far which he described as impactful. He told the people that he has moved key motions and supported several others in his determination to promote meaningful development in the state and country at large.
Senator Sampson said he plans to undertake regular intervention programmes which he said will cut across different segments of economic engagement of the people.
He assured his constituency that his Vice Chairmanship position in Committees on FCT and Education (Secondary and Basic) as well as his membership of Committees on NDDC (Oil and Gas) and Ad-hoc Committee on Customs, which he said would be fully maximized for the common good of his people in the Senatorial District. He thanked the Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio for facilitating his deep involvement in the Senate mainstream activities.
He commended the State Governor, His Excellency Pastor Umo Bassey Eno for his performance in his first 100 days in office describing it as reassuring.
He called for total support from the citizenry to enable him fulfill his lofty plans for his people.
He also commended the former governor His Excellency Mr. Udom Gabriel Emanuel for standing his ground for justice to prevail in the build up to the elections in the state which according to him has made Ikot Abasi Federal Constituenc
