The popular ‘Ibadan Forest Of Horror’ has again resurfaced and branded into a primary and higher school as captured by our team of investigative reporters.
The team reports that the forest is located in a place called Soka forest in Ibadan through the major Lagos/Ibadan express way. Having known as a dangerous forest , a locally made building was spotted in the middle of the forest , called House of horror.
It was alleged that criminal activities, abduction and rituals are constantly performed in the forest. Several attempts was made by government to arrest criminals at the forest to stop further activities in the area.
Recently, the house was demolished and a school was built to change the ugly narrative. Eye witnesses within the area told our team of reporters that building of school in that forest is another dangerous trap set up to lure those criminals to action.
“Travellers are at risk whenever they ply the road or vehicles got spoiled within the area because the hoodlums operate at intervals”
“The Oyo state government is aware but we cannot tell why the forests within that area cannot be removed and open up the area for public use”
The Ibadan forest of horror, also known as the Ibadan house of horror or Soka, was a dilapidated building believed to been used for human trafficking and ritual sacrifice located in Soka forest in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
The building was discovered on March 22, 2014, by a group of motorcycle taxi drivers, who had formed an impromptu search party after the disappearance of a driver in the area.
23 survivors were rescued from the building, while numerous body parts, decomposing bodies and personal effects of victims were found in the surrounding area.
The activities that occurred in the forest are believed to have been coordinated by unknown kidnappers and ritualists in the state who are often patronized by some affluent Nigerians and politicians who use human flesh for rituals.
The buildings on the site have since been demolished and it has been redeveloped into a school at the time of this report.
However, critiques have continued to talk down the resurfacing of such a project in that location which according to them was developed into a school by the same politicians those criminals had worked for.
They however alleged that same workers (kidnapper and ritualist) who used that forest to perpetuate such crime will still use it as a better living environment to aid their operations.
A call on Oyo state government and the community leadership in Ibadan to swiftly move into action to stop a repeat of such crime reportedly taken place in the forest is most paramount.
Betterstill, the forest within that zone is expected to be cleared and a mobile police station or divisional headquarters be sited to control ill actions of hoodlums allegedly going on in the area.
