Update: A serving Police Inspector has been arrested by the Police in Jos on suspicion of severing his pregnant wife’s hand over a minor dispute involving N3,000 in Dong Village of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
9News Nigeria correspondent in Jos gathered that the officer reportedly committed the act after his wife allegedly collected N3,000 from his savings.
He had left the money at home, and when he discovered it missing, an argument ensued, resulting in his resorting to aggressive violence.
The State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Alfred Alabo, confirmed the suspect had been apprehended, and investigation are underway.
“We are aware of the incident, the man is an inspector. Right now, he is at State CID and the investigation is ongoing.
“He has a minor misunderstanding with his wife over some money. They had an argument over some N20,000 he kept in the house and he said he was looking for the money to do something and an argument ensued. The case is under investigation”.
A concerned neighbor who claimed anonimity expressed shock over the ugly incident, said the disagreement escalated when the wife declined to give the man N3,000 from the N20,000 kept.
“The wife is pregnant, she refused to give the man N3,000 from the N20,000.The argument was heated and before we knew what was happening, the man had already cut off her hand. No one can say why he did that but we were really concerned about her as was was immediately rushed to a hospital”.
