Following the Portuguese performance at the Euro match against Slovenia, Cristiano Ronaldo fans have flooded British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Sports Instagram page with hundreds of memes, criticisms and snarling comments.
The outpour from fans comes after the broadcaster captioned a replay of Ronaldo’s penalty miss against Slovenia ‘Misstiano Penaldo’ on Monday night.
Ronaldo was handed an opportunity to score the winning goal during extra-time against Slovenia but was denied by goalkeeper Jan Oblak, prompting the Portugal captain to break down in tears.
However, the Portuguese superstar redeemed himself by converting his attempt in the penalty-shootout, leading Portugal to the Euro 2024 quarter-finals.
Cristiano Ronaldo, popularly known as CR7, had his followers come out in full force to lambast the BBC Sport Instagram account, with some fans advocating for the account to be reported and unfollowed.
“Ronaldo is bigger than all your channels.” One fan boasted.
Former England international, John Terry shared the caption to Instagram and slammed it as a ‘disgrace’.
Fans of Ronaldo are known for being vocal about their love and support on social media.
