Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, YOSEMA, has issued support to Borno State government and residents of Maiduguri, the state capital in the wake of flood disaster affecting the city.
According to the agency in a statement on Tuesday, the support is a solidarity gesture to it’s neighboring state.
YOSEMA note that it has mobilized electric boat and live jackets to assist in response and evacuation of victims of the flood in affected communities in Maiduguri.
While sympathizing with Borno State government and the victims of the flood, the agency added that it is ready to offer needed support in tackling the flood disaster.
‘We stand ready to continue offering our support as needed and remain committed to collaborating with Borno State SEMA/NEMA in these challenging times,” YOSEMA said.
This medium had reported earlier how many communities in Maiduguri have been submerged by water, forcing the displacement of thousands in the city.
It also reported earlier that the water level has subsided in some areas while other communities and road networks remain inaccessible.
