The political crisis in Rivers State took a new turn on Monday when Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara swore in the newly elected local government chairmen. After the swearing-in ceremony, the Inspector General of Police ordered the immediate sealing of the council secretariat by the Nigeria Police.
This order sparked tensions in various council secretariats as supporters of Governor Wike protested, vowing that the newly sworn-in chairmen would not be allowed to occupy the secretariats. This ultimately led to the burning down of the council secretariat in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government area.
In response to this incident, the Ikwerre council of chiefs, led by His Royal Majesty King Blessing Wagor, JP, Nyenwe-Ali of Isiokpo, invoked the wrath of the gods of the land upon those responsible for the burning of the council secretariat building (Ikwerre House) in Isiokpo, the headquarters of Ikwerre Local Government area in Rivers State.
