Dr. Mahmud Sanusi Mohammed has been appointed as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority (UBRBDA).
He was appointed by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday.
Hails from Jalingo Local Government Area of Taraba State, Dr. Sanusi was before his appointment, the Chairman, Taraba Football Association.
His new role at UBRBDA puts him in charge of overseeing the development and management of water resources across the authority’s operational areas, which include Taraba, Gombe, and parts of Adamawa and Bauchi states.
The UBRBDA plays a vital role in ensuring food security, flood control, irrigation, and sustainable water management within the Upper Benue River Basin.
Dr. Mahmud comes from a notable family; he is the son of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed.
His appointment reflects the federal government’s commitment to addressing water and agricultural challenges in the region.
The UBRBDA is a critical institution to ensure the sustainable development of water resources and to support rural development through agricultural initiatives, hydropower generation, and flood control.
