🟢 Call on Government to remember Poly Nekede- Umuoma police post- Ihiagwa road, Owerri municipal and New Owerri.
At the commencement of plenary this Wednesday 23, October , 2024 afternoon, the Imo State House of Assembly , IMHA Owerri Imo State , 10th House, 3rd Assembly, Second Session led by the Speaker Hon Chike Olemgbe applauded His Excellency Governor Hope Odidika Uzodinma CON, for the re-construction and rehabilitation of Orlu – Mgbee- Akokwa -Uga express road.
The road was said to have been abandoned by previous administrations following its collapse and attack by erosion as 9News Nigeria reports.
Orlu- Mgbee- Akokwa -Uga express road is located in Ideato North and South Local Government Areas of Imo state Nigeria.
Presenting the motion, the Chief sponsor, Hon Okechukwu Udeze stated that roads in Ideato nation had been forgotten and abandoned for many decades and none of the past administrations remembered any of them until Governor Uzodinma met it when the roads have turned to death traps all through the years.
Governor Uzodinma having heard the cry of the citizens and residents of the area, swung into action to mobilize for the construction of the said road with immediate effects. The Honourable House therefore commended the Governor of Imo State for kick starting the rehabilitation of the abandoned express road.
Reacting to the motion, Honourable members who co-sponsored the motion and others spoke in favour to commend Governor Uzodinma on this feat recorded.
Recall that Ideato nation had been cut off from the rest of the state making it difficult for the indigenes who live in other towns to travel back home as motorists now make their way through the bush and people’s farmlands to avoid the collapsed bridge at Mgbee.
9News Owerri reports that the collapse of this road also tripled transportation fare from Orlu to Ideato North and South Local Government Areas, thereby increasing the suffering of the people in these areas mentioned.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Minority Leader and member representing Owerri Municipal, Rt Hon Clinton Amadi added that the Governor has done very well by rehabilitating the roads connecting Ideato nation with the rest of the state.
Clinton also pleaded with Governor Hope Uzodinma to remember the roads in Owerri Municipality particularly the new Owerri roads that have been in bad condition and impassable.
In addition, it is an important call on Government of Imo State to remember the completion and maintenance of Poly Nekede- Umuoma police post- Ihiagwa road to avert further disaster caused by several potholes domiciled along this route as investigated by 9News Nigeria.
The following Honourable members -Ikenna Ihezuo, Gilbert Nwosu, Samuel Osuji, Innocent Ikpamazie, Chyna Iwuanyanwu, Chisom Osuji and Kanayo Onyemaechi co-sponsored the motion commending Hope Uzodinma for remembering the Ideato nation on road rehabilitation and reconstruction.
