The World Bank’s Country Director for Nigeria, Ndiamé Diop, has recently commended Nigeria’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

In a recent interview, Diop expressed optimism about Nigeria’s talent pool, highlighting the NYSC’s unique role in fostering a skilled workforce that is instrumental for the country’s future growth.

He described it as a “gold mine” for skilled labor and a vital asset for Nigeria’s development.

The NYSC program, which deploys young graduates across Nigeria, contributes significantly to essential sectors, including healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

Diop emphasized that leveraging these talents aligns with the World Bank’s focus on human capital development, crucial for long-term economic stability.

This approach supports current World Bank initiatives in Nigeria, which prioritize primary healthcare, education, and infrastructural projects.

Diop’s comments align with the World Bank’s broader strategy of supporting Nigeria’s economic reforms and sustainable development efforts, further solidifying Nigeria’s role as a critical partner in Africa.
