Boat Caring About 200 Passengers Crashed In Niger State

Early hours of today, barely a few months a boat accident occurred on the Muwo Gbajibo River in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State on October 1, 2024, resulting to the loss of many lives, another accident have just occurred this Friday.

Our correspondent reports that a dangerous boat accident has occurred this Friday afternoon along the Dambo-Ebuchi sections of River Niger, resulting in the loss of many passengers, totaling up to two hundred 200.

9News Nigeria reports that about 8 passengers are confirmed dead at the time of filling this report while rescue divers have swung into action to recover the rest of remaining passengers.

The boat, which belonged to one Musa Dangana, was carrying over 200 passengers, including market women and farm laborers, en route to the Katcha weekly market before this disaster occured and took their lives.

Unfortunately reports indicate that none of the passengers were wearing life jackets at the time of the accident, which may have contributed to the high number of casualties.

At press time , the authorities are yet to release an official statement on the boat collapse while Newsmen have delve into investigation is to determine the actual cause of the accident.

So far, eight bodies have been recovered, while search and rescue operations continue to locate the remaining passengers.

It was gathered that the boat suddenly capsized few metres away from their departure point while heading for their daily businesses.

The boat accident occurred in the early hours of Friday November 29, 2024, along the Dambo-Ebuchi sections of River Niger, resulting in the loss of multiple lives.

Relevant rescue divers and related agents have continued to recover up to 8 dead bodies leaving many still missing at the time of filling this report by 9News Nigeria.
