Dr. Zahradeen Umar Abbas, the president, Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) Federal Neouro-Psychiatric Hospital, (FNPH) Maiduguri, has secured a second term to lead the association.
This was following the association’s annual election for the year 2025, on Wednesday in Maiduguri.
Umar won the election unopposed to run for another one year tenure.
Other exco members includes; Dr Zainab Bukar Yaganami, vice president, Dr Mustapha Ibrahim Mustapha, general secretary, Dr Nasir Muhammad Sani, assistant general secretary, Dr Baba Musa Muhammad, financial secretary, Dr Mariam Ali Goni, treasurer, Dr Peter DanMallam, welfare officer and Dr Rebecca Ndahi Akila as Public Relations Officer, PRO.
The election is part of the association’s end of the year program which includes several events.
The five days event, December 15 – 20, featured a Scientific Conference held at the hospital.
During the conference, key stakeholders in the hospital talked about the importance of science and scholarship to the health sector and the Nigerian community.
Other guests speakers also spoke about the role of psychiatrists in combating mental health challenges and the promotion of a healthy society.
Also part of the program is an award ceremony to several health professionals at the hospital who exceled in their various professional field.
Some of the awardees who were honored for academic achievements are, Dr. Rukayya Abubakar and Dr. Amina Isa.
Other awards of honors were presented to Head of Department, Medical Services and Nurse of the Year among others.
The Medical Director, FNPH Maiduguri, Prof. Ibrahim Abdulwakawa and Borno State Commissioner for Rehabilitation Reconstruction and Resettlement (RRR), Arch. Isa Halid are among the dignitaries present at the event.
The ceremony ends with few remarks from guests and a symbolic cutting of cake to celebrate the awardess and ARD team.
