Acolades from individuals, groups and organizations have continued to trail the Senator Representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Ekong Sampson Ph.D, for his teller performance so far.
The latest in the profile of groups which are in essay for the Senator is Mkpat ENIN UNITY NETWORK, a pan socio-cultural and political organization which boost of spread beyond the frontiers of our nation.
In his address presented on behalf of the group during a courtesy visit to the senator at Watbridge Hotels and Suits, the National Coordinator, Tpl. Akpabio Ufot- Akpabio applauded the Senator for his vibrancy and leadership acumen which the senator has brought to bear, in his legislative activities in the Senate.
‘You have vindicated us and proved the cynics of our vision wrong by becoming one of the top ranking Senators that ever emerged from our state, despite being a first timer in the National Assembly. We applaud you for this huge feat sir. ‘
The group commended the Senator for the even spread of projects which it noted, cuts across the Senatorial District in the state. The group noted with satisfaction that despite the short period the senator has spent so far in the National Assembly, his achievement has remained unparalleled.
The group thanked the present and past governors of the state as well as supporters of the senator for facilitating the dream of the group through his election into the Senate.
‘Our Distinguished Senator, your contributions, services and superlative performance to the people of Akwa Ibom South, Akwa Ibom State and indeed, Nigeria at large, in the National Assembly are resonated across the ocean waves. The group also commended Akwa Ibom South Elders/Stakeholders Forum for adopting the Senator for a second term in office and therefore moved a motion in support of the decision of the elders and Stakeholders in that direction.
The group however, appealed to the senator to sustain his glorious feat so far exhibited in the Senate, by ensuring that members of the group are adequately taken care of, to serve as enabling spur for greater sacrifices and rewards for their labour.
Responding, the Senator Representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Sen. Ekong Sampson Ph. D, thanked members of the group for their faith in him and for their unwavering support for his noble course which he has continued to receive from the group. The Senator charged those who are toiling with him to change their perception from mere supporters to believers in the “New Akwa Ibom South Project” saying, believers are consistent in season and out season; whereas supporters, according to him endure for a season and fall away when the going gets tough.
He called on the indigenes of Akwa Ibom South to shun divisive politics and embrace the peace mantra of the present administration in the state. He promised to do everything within his extreme ability to lift the standard of the people in the Senatorial District to an amiable standard.
He however warned that he would no longer tolerate political rascality in his primary constituency saying, such unwholesome attitudes negate the principles of brotherhood, good neighborliness and peaceful coexistence which he said, are inimical to economic growth and wellness among the people.
High point of the occasion was the presentation of Certificate of Return, by Tpl.Akpabio Ufot- Akpabio to the Senator, for his support during his contest for the position of Assistant National Public Relations Secretary in the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners(NITP) which took place recently in Enugu State.
