Francis Van-Lare, the father in-law of late US-based Nigerian cardiologist Dr. Ikenna Erinne, has refuted reports, that the doctor took his own life due to a $15,000 monthly child support ruling.
In a statement on Monday, Van-Lare revealed that Erinne was only ordered to pay $1,900 per month, which he sometimes paid partially.
He also dismissed claims that Erinne was a peaceful and quiet individual, sharing screen shots of restraining orders issued by the Maryland Court Circuit.
“Liars everywhere, He killed himself to avoid paying $1,900 monthly, which he sometimes paid partially. He was not ask to pay $15,000 a month as alleged. Deadbeat dad! Anymore rubbish talk about my family, and I will share more revelations”, he warned.
You would be recall that earlier reports suggest that Dr. Erinne took his own life on Sunday, January 26, 2025, after a court ruling allegedly ordered him to pay $15,000 in child support to his ex-wife, following a contentious divorce battle.
The initial story sparked outrage, with Nigeria psychologist Clayton Udo condemning what he described as the “abuse of African men in USA”.
With these new revelations, Dr Erinne’s tragic death continue to stir debate.
Was he truly a victim of unfair system, or is there more to the story? Time shall tell.
