The family of former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has announced his passing this afternoon in a private clinic in London.

The announcement was made in a brief statement signed by his media aide, Garba Shehu, former presidential spokesperson, on Saturday, July 13, 2025.

“May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin,” the statement concluded.

Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s military Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023, was a towering figure in Nigerian politics, widely known for his anti-corruption stance and austere lifestyle.
