The Nigerian Army has promoted 28 Brigadier-General and elevated 77 Colonels to Brigadier-General a sweeping leadership reshuffle affecting 105 top officers.
The announcement was made by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Applonia Anele, via Army’s official X account on Friday.
Among those promoted to Major General are officers serving in key Commands across Defence Intelligence, Operations, Logistics, Training, and Signals including officers from the Defence Intelligence Agency and other central department. One promotion was awarded posthumously to Z A Saidu in recognition of this service.
The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shuaibu, congratulated the promoted officers and urged them to demonstrate exemplary leadership and loyalty to the Constitution.
He called on them to harness innovation and uphold discipline as they assume their new responsibilities
Observers say the reshuffle aims to strengthen the army’s senior leadership in a period mark by complex security challenges, hoping the new appointments will boost operational effectiveness.
