In a bold move to tackle rising insecurity in Obibiezena Community and other parts of Imo State, High Chief Okey Amadi has launched advanced security drones and pledged a ₦10 million support fund to strengthen local vigilante operations and improve community surveillance.
The security initiative was unveiled during a strategic meeting convened by High Chief Amadi at his residence with all vigilante operatives in Obibiezena. The meeting focused on practical solutions to growing concerns over criminal activities, kidnappings, and attacks affecting communities across the state.
Addressing the operatives, High Chief Amadi said the deployment of drone technology would significantly improve intelligence gathering, bush surveillance, and rapid response operations in vulnerable areas. According to him, the use of drones represents a modern approach to community policing and crime prevention, especially in difficult terrains where conventional patrol methods often face limitations.
He further disclosed that a professional drone specialist has been engaged to train selected members of the vigilante group on the effective handling and operation of the equipment. The trainer is expected to remain in the community for one month to provide intensive technical guidance and ensure that the security personnel acquire the necessary operational skills.
“Security requires proactive measures and proper coordination. These drones will help provide real-time monitoring of suspicious movements, especially within forests and remote locations where criminal elements often hide,” he stated.
Beyond the technological support, High Chief Amadi also announced a cash support package of ₦10 million for the vigilante operatives to enhance their effectiveness and morale in safeguarding lives and property within the community.
He assured residents that his commitment to restoring peace and stability in Obibiezena would remain unwavering, stressing that security is a collective responsibility that requires community cooperation, discipline, and sustained vigilance.
