The Kaduna State Government has demolished the state’s 60-year-old stadium, originally built during the era of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, popularly known as the Sardauna.
The development is part of the state government’s renewed investment in sports, with a focus on developing young talents and creating pathways for Kaduna athletes and footballers to pursue professional careers in Europe and other parts of the world.
This demolition paves the way for a new FIFA-standard sports facility, the government stated.
The government said the new facility would provide young people with better opportunities to develop their sporting talents and compete at higher levels.
Football, in particular, has evolved into a multibillion-dollar global industry, with talented players capable of securing professional contracts and representing significant economic value for their communities and countries.
The Kaduna State Government’s investment in modern sporting infrastructure is therefore expected to complement efforts to identify, nurture and export sporting talents from the state to international competitions and professional leagues.
