Nigerian media practitioner and publisher, Gidado Yushau Shuaib, has been appointed as a youth representative of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) to the United Nations.
The appointment places Shuaib in an international platform focused on youth participation, strategic communication and the advancement of issues affecting young people globally.
This new development comes as Nigerian PR agencies, including Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) and LSF PR—secure shortlist positions across multiple categories of the 2026 Golden World Awards (GWA) in Greece while the Comptroller‑General of the Nigeria Customs Service, CG Bashir Adewale Adeniyi is scheduled to receive a special honour at the Athens ceremony on September 25, 2026.
Shuaib is the publisher of News Digest Nigeria and has built a career spanning journalism, public relations, youth development and strategic communications.
He is also associated with Youths Digest, an initiative that promotes campus journalism and empowers young Nigerians interested in media and communications.
His work with young journalists has included initiatives designed to strengthen professionalism, accountability and ethical journalism among students across Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Youths Digest has grown into a network involving thousands of campus journalists from institutions across the country.
Shuaib has also participated in international youth engagements, including the United Nations Youth Assembly, where he represented Nigerian youth perspectives and contributed to discussions around the Sustainable Development Goals.
IPRA lists Shuaib as the Chief Executive Officer of Image Merchants Promotion Limited, the organisation behind PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, and describes him as an accomplished Nigerian writer and public relations practitioner.
The new appointment is expected to further expand Nigeria’s voice in international conversations on youth development, communication and sustainable development.
Shuaib currently serves as Special Assistant to the Director‑General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), where he supports strategic communications, media management, and public affairs.
