IMO: The 30th Diocesan Women’s Conference of the Anglican Communion, Diocese of Egbu (Women’s Work Office) was successfully held to celebrate the efforts of Anglican women in the sustenance of the church of God.
This year’s conference was well organized by the central planning committee led by Lady Ngozi Naze chairperson and Mrs Chidubem Azubuike secretary, 2025 conference planning committee, 30th Diocesan Women’s Conference, church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Diocese of Egbu, Imo state Nigeria.
9News Nigeria reports that the 30th Diocesan Women’s conference featured dignitaries across all works of life followed by the arrival of conference delegates, registration and lodging accommodation, courtesy calls, Bible study in various groups, opening and closing services, lectures and prayers, presentation of women’s work reports from various Archdeaconries, launch and dinner breaks.
There were special songs from the choir, girl’s guild and children session in honour of the women’s conference alongside award presentations to respective dignitaries present at the conference as captured by 9News Nigeria Owerri.
Declaring the conference open, His Lordship Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Enyinnaya Okorafor, Bishop, Diocese of Egbu assured the women of support and encouragement to continue working for humanity across boards in every dimension that represents God. Bishop Okorafor commended the organizers of the year 2025 women’s conference and thanked the Anglican church of Pentecost, Area H New Owerri Imo State for hosting the event. His Lordship Okorafor blessed the entire congregation and guests and also offered prayers to the Christians all over the world,, the state and Nigeria at large.
Presenting her welcome address, Chairperson conference planning committee, Lady Ngozi Naze said,
“We are indeed eternally greatful to our God and Father, Who by his grace and love chosen us to be part of this year’s Diocesan Women’s Conference. To God alone be all the glory, now and forever. Amen.
“It is my honour, on behalf of the Central Planning committee, to congratulate in a very special way the President of M.U, W.G, and G.G., Mrs Ngozi Chioma Okorafor, Mama Egbu (Ugosinachi Global), clergy, workers wives, members of the Diocesan Executive and the entire women of our dear Holy Ghost Diocese on this August occasion of the 2025 women’s conference.
“I sincerely value the commitment of the planning committee and every other person who contributed to the success of this year’s conference with the theme, LIFT UP YOUR HEADS, O YOU GATES -PSALM 24:7.
“As with all Mama Egbu ‘s conference themes, this is very apt and timely. Following from the last year’s conference when we CAST LOTS and identified the roots of or problems, we now have a duty to cause these GATES to lift up their heads for the KING OF GLORY to come in with lasting SOLUTIONS.
“In view of the above, I count it a privilege , on behalf of Mama Egbu, to joyfully welcome our Father in God, the Lord Bishop of the Diocese of Egbu, Rt Rev. Geoffrey Enyinnaya Okorafor, the clergy, all church workers, conference Chairman, awardees, friends of Mama Egbu, and indeed all our guests to this powerful conference, praying God to grant us open Heavens.
In addition, the Administrator , Pentecost Archdeaconry / Host of the Conference, Rev. Canon Godswill MC Ihekuna and L/R Mrs Ogechi Marvis Ihekuna congratulated Egbu Diocese for the successful women’s conference.
The Diocesan legal team comprises of Chief magistrate, Lord chancellor Maureen Onyewuotu, Registrar Barr Emeka Nwaneri, Deputy registrar Hon. Justice Adaego Nosiri and legal secretaries – Hon. Justice Obinna Nwachukwu, Lady Barr Ethel Echebima, Barr Mrs. Ogechi Ucheajoku, Chief Sir (Barr) Sunny Onwuchekwa respectively.
The highlight of the conference was the keynote address by Hon. Justice Victoria Chinyere Isiguzo ( High court Owerri). The evet recorded state presence by the arrival of Her Excellency Barr Chioma Uzodinma and Lady Dr. Chinyere Ekomaru at the conference.
Among the awardees is Mrs Chinelo Adaora Emeghara Esq. Clerk, Imo State House of Assembly. Mrs Emeghara was called to the Nigerian bar in 1989 and retired after active 35 years in service. Posted to the IMHA as a Legislative draftsman in 1999, Barr Chinelo Emeghara has risen through the ranks to become Deputy Director (Legal), Director (Legal department), Deputy clerk (Legal), Acting clerk of the House before being of Assembly (IMHA) service commission in 2019.
9News Nigeria also sighted Mathew Nzubechukwu O’Neal, first of the three children of Chief Joel and Mrs Chinenye Iwuanyanwu Ugorji of mbeiri mbaitolu LGA. O’Neal was awarded “Conference Son” and an under graduate of Fedponek. His mum is presently working at IMHA and the CEO of (Delly-D’s Place), for all your occasions and rental services, located at Area L, zone 5, opposite Ideal Suite Hotel, world Bank estate,, Owerri? imo state.
Presently doing his masters degree in Aberdeen University, United Kingdom, (Msc Sustainability Transitions), Prince Ugonwokoma Wisdom from Eze’s Palace, Umuokanne, Ohaji/Egbema was also awarded “Conference Son” including other awardees of various categories;
Which Included, Lady Comfort Okeke, Lady Chinyere Onyirimba, Lady Dr. Ihuoma Nma Emerole, Dame Fidelia Nwachukwu, Dame Onyemaechi Kelechi, Lolo Ugochinyere Comfort Amadi, Barr Justice Chineme Uhuegbu, Sir Barr, Davidson Nwogu, Hon. Maxwell Nlemadim, Messers Clinton Okorafor and Harrison Ugonna Ononiwu.
Continuing: Lady Irene Obi, Lolo Scholastic Anyanwu, Hon. Ezinne Juliana Ihekwoaba, Chief Sir Emmanuel Okereafor, Osuji Michael, Patrick Eberechi, Mrs Mercy Ukah, Mrs Glory Sam Nwaeke, Sir Agbor Nnamdi and Mrs Chizoma Onyeukwu partook in the award blessings.
