According to Mr Gujbawu the committee had spent the last two months verifying and distributing relief items to affected households in Maiduguri Metropolitan, Jere, and Mafa Local Government Areas.

He added that traders from nine major markets in the state were also reached, listing them as; Gamboru Market, Monday Market, Tashan Damboa, Metro Plaza, El-kanemi, Vegetable Market, Customs Market, Moromoro Vegetable Market, Bukar Shuibu, and Budum Market.

Gujbawu explained that the beneficiaries were categorized based on the extent of damage to their businesses, which ranged from minimal and partial to total loss, adding that the funds would be credited directly to the traders’ bank accounts.
