A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Legal Adviser to the party in Ebonyi State, Barrister Mudi Erhenede, has accused Governor David Nweze Umahi of turning the State into “Mini North Korea”.
Chief Erhenede also accused Governor Umahi of using Ebubeagu Security Network against opposition party.
He described Ebubeagu as a militia group used by Governor Umahi to intimidate PDP members and urged the Federal government to scrap the security network.
Chief Erhenede made this known during an interview with Channels Television monitored by 9NEWS NIGERIA.
According to him, “what we have in Ebonyi State is a militia group and not any security network”.
“A situation where the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Stanley Okoro Emegha is the Security Consultant of Ebubeagu Security Network, this shows how Umahi is running the outfit”.
“Remember that recently, a former House of Representatives member, Linus Okorie was declared wanted by the State Government just because he is a member of the opposition party, PDP.”
“Let me tell you this, Ebonyi State is now a Mini North Korea where Ebubeagu is used against the opposition party and this is very bad”.
Chief Erhenede further said that Ebubeagu members have killed at least two persons since it was established in Ebonyi State.
He condemned the State Government passage of the Cybercrime (Prohibition) Law of Ebonyi State 2021 describing it as dangerous, undemocratic, evil and a biggest assault on democracy .
