No Road No Election: Evbotubu Residents Promise To Vote Out Obaseki Over Underdevelopment

Would Obaseki survive the heat against his reelection by residents of Edo State? The rate at which the people are clamouring for change is totally alarming.

Yesterday market women, traders, bus drivers and residents of Evbotubu community berated the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki over his failed promises to reconstruct the Evbotubu road in Egor Local Government council.

According to the market traders, Obaseki’s first promise when he came to campaign to them four years ago was to construct the road leading to the market and also give the market a facelift.

Since then till now they have not even witnessed any form of government presence in their locality.

Some residents of Evbotubu in a protest were seen shouting no ROAD no Election.

According to a market woman, Mrs Lawrence Ugiabe, Governor Obaseki has underperformed.
“The/day of campaigns we waited for Obaseki day and night, when he came around, this road was the first thing he promised us that he was going to construct now look at the road no single vehicle, keke or even leg can pass the road anymore. We are just suffering for nothing”

Another trader claims their business is completely non-existent due to the neglect of Evbotobu road by Obaseki.

Not left out commercial drivers and tricycle operators also berated Obaseki over his failed promise to reconstruct the road and the markets, they threatened to withdraw all support for Obaseki if the Edo State Government can not come to their aid.

They explained that the failed promise for Obaseki to fix the road has left them in a total state of hopelessness as there are no more commercial activities operating in Evbotubu.

When Obaseki was campaigning he promised to do this road up to Ugbowo.

They maintained that all their appeals to Obaseki to fix the road fell on deaf ears, they lamented that if it was possible for them to fix the road they would have done it.

They claim Obaseki should not dare come to Evbotubu and campaign because he would be rejected outrightly.
