Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike has called on Nigerian youths protesting for the end of the Special Anti Robery Squad of the Nigerian police force popularly known as SARS to not only demand for the end of the Unit, but to also clamour for the total overhaul of the Nigerian police force.

In a statement made public on the governors personal twitter handle, Wike said that It is not only ending SARS, but that every Nigerian should support the total reform of the Police.

He further stated that: “We shouldn’t make a mistake, If we #EndSars as they have done the same police people would be used to form another body. That is what I have always supported and called for,” he said in the tweet.

Governor Wike had yesterday declared in a statement that all forms of protests have been banned throughout Rivers state. In that statement Governor Wike said that all proposed protests under #EndSars Campaign were hereby prohibited in the state. The announcement did not go down well with many Nigerians especially the youths who criticised the controversial governor for such comment that made him look like a dictator.
