The Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Governor David Nweze Umahi has lambasted a group over their inability to honour the invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to come and explain their letter against the State Government.

In a statement made available to 9News Nigeria, Mr. Francis Nwaze described the group as an abusive hunter that has become the hunted.

He said the purported former Coordinators led by Amos Ogbonnaya had written the EFCC alleging that the Ebonyi State Government misappropriated the statutory allocation of the 13 Local Government Areas of the State to the tune of more than 6 billion naira.

He noted that it is clear that when the purported former Coordinators were concocting the allegations, it never occurred to them that the EFCC would make demand of information and relevant documents as it was just aimed at tarnishing the good image of the State Government.

According to him, “In the letter, the EFCC directed Amos Ogbonnaya, lawyer to the alleged former Coordinators to furnish it with relevant information in line with its allegations against the State Government bothering on Financial impropriety.”

“The purported former Coordinators led by Amos Ogbonnaya had written the EFCC alleging that the Ebonyi State Government misappropriated the statutory allocation of the 13 Local Government Areas of the State to the tune of more than 6 billion naira.”

“From the foregoing, it is clear that when the purported former Coordinators were concocting the allegations, it never occurred to them that the EFCC would make demand of information and relevant documents as it was just aimed at tarnishing the good image of the State Government.”

“Unfortunately, the EFCC has not just requested information and documents, it has also directed that the group presents a representative for interrogation.”

“Suddenly, the mighty are now fallen that the accuser has suddenly turned to an accused even without the State Government coughing on the allegations.”

“The faceless group that is hiding under the cloak of the remnants of the house of Saul in the State is now faced with the dilemma of who to send to the EFCC, what will be the fate of the person that would be sent and how to fabricate information and documents to buttress their claims.”

“The above scenario presents a likely looming case of massive incarceration of the accomplices for misinformation of impartial Financial Commission of International repute in the mold of the EFCC.”

“While we are constrained to make remarks on the travails of the self-imposed political savages who are now at the mercy of the incorruptible EFCC, it is pertinent to note that all the financial dealings of the present Administration in the State have always been published in the State Government’s official website for Public knowledge and there has not been any case of Financial misappropriation as alleged by the relevance seeking group of power mongers.”

“It is however laughable how this recyclable political job hunters could descend so low as to accuse the Administration of Engineer David Umahi of misappropriation of this magnitude.”

“This is more laughable considering that the person they accuse is a personality who was crowned the anti-corruption ambassador by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission, ICPC for his unbeatable track record in the prudent management of meager resources.”

“The Ebonyi State Government is however not averse to make itself available for Public scrutiny should the EFCC require its inputs to ensure exhaustive investigation of the spurious allegations at any point in time.”

“I therfore call on the people of Ebonyi State to remain vigilant and watch how merchants of fake news and blackmail would one day be implicated and vilified in the temple of justice.”
