The 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of instigating and sustaining the internal crisis within the Labour Party.
Obi made the remarks during an exclusive interview with Arise TV, where he addressed recent criticisms questioning his leadership capacity due to ongoing internal disagreements within his party.
“We now live in a country of propaganda and lies, where a party chairman refers to a governor in his party as a dwarf, with dwarf ideas,” Obi stated, referencing a recent outburst within the APC.
He dismissed claims linking the Labour Party’s internal wrangling to his ability to lead, describing such arguments as baseless.
“The allegations that I cannot be a good leader for Nigeria because of the crisis in the Labour Party fall flat. I have run successful businesses, been a governor, and have shown no weakness. Humility, patience, and tolerance are not weaknesses but virtues,” he asserted.
Obi reiterated that his leadership style is rooted in principle and discipline, not political theatrics or personal attacks.
He also maintained that the challenges within the Labour Party are being exaggerated by opponents threatened by the party’s rising influence and popularity.
