President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has said that although he never had formal education, his life experience has given him more knowledge than many university graduates.
He made the remark while speaking at the 50th birthday celebration of Islamic singer Hafsat Adegoke in Lagos, where he reflected on his journey from a bus conductor to becoming one of Nigeria’s most influential transport union leaders.
According to MC Oluomo, years of hard work and practical experience taught him valuable life and leadership lessons that classroom education alone could not provide.
He recalled that he started earning money as a teenager, working as a bus conductor and supporting his mother financially while still enjoying simple pleasures like watching Indian movies.
The NURTW president said he rose through the ranks by learning the transport business, mastering the job and remaining committed over the years.
He insisted that despite not attending school, the knowledge and understanding he has gained through experience surpass those of many degree holders.
MC Oluomo also stressed that he values education, revealing that his children are highly educated professionals.
According to him, his children are a doctor, a lawyer and an engineer, all living in the United States. He prayed for God’s continued protection and long life for them.
