The Director-General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as bold and transformative leadership that has repositioned Nigeria for sustainable economic growth and global relevance.
Yakub made the commendation while delivering the keynote address at the Adamawa State All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders’ Engagement Conference held in Yola on Monday.
The one-day event, organised by APC lawmakers in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, brought together party stalwarts, community leaders, and grassroots stakeholders to review the achievements of the Tinubu-led administration over the last two years and to strengthen support for the federal government’s development agenda.
According to a statement by Ojo Adetoun Olubunmi, head of Information & Public Relations at NTAC, Hon Yakub in his address, highlighted the far-reaching impact of the President’s economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira, which he said have saved the nation trillions of naira and redirected funds toward critical infrastructure and social investments.
“We are proud of the achievements of the Tinubu-led government in the last two years, and we are particularly grateful for the appointment of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as the National Security Adviser,” Yakub stated.
He described the appointment of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, a distinguished son of Adamawa State, as a demonstration of the President’s confidence in the capacity of Northerners to deliver on key national assignments.
Yakub further noted that Nigeria’s petroleum sector has recorded significant progress under President Tinubu, saying the country is now on course to becoming an exporter of refined petroleum products as a result of the administration’s decisive reforms.
He also enumerated several major infrastructure projects currently underway, including: a superhighway linking the North, Southwest, and South-South; the 750-kilometre Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway; the 477-kilometre Trans-Saharan Highway stretching from the FCT to Calabar; and the 1,068-kilometre Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway.
In the North-East region, Yakub revealed that work is progressing on the 432-kilometre Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe highway, with plans to extend it to Yola to create a direct expressway from Abuja to Adamawa.
He also pointed to significant developments in the railway and water sectors, noting that the federal government has approved $3 billion for the Eastern Corridor Railway Line, which has already spurred 27% growth in the transport sector, while the water sector has achieved a 40% performance increase — the highest since independence.
On education, Yakub lauded the launch of the ₦95.6 billion student loan scheme and the introduction of free education for all technical schools, equipped with modern training facilities and updated curricula.
He further highlighted the administration’s focus on social welfare, citing the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, which provides ₦75,000 to over 50 million Nigerians, and the recruitment of Forest Guards to boost national security.
In the energy sector, he praised the government’s adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for vehicles, noting its positive impact on transportation costs and environmental sustainability.
Yakub further commended President Tinubu and the APC leadership for their “record-breaking achievements” across infrastructure, education, and social welfare, describing the administration as one that is “laying a new foundation for inclusive national growth.”
The conference was attended by top party figures, including Comrade Barrister Salihu Mustapha (National Vice Chairman, Northeast), Barrister Idris (Adamawa APC Chairman), and Hon. Suleiman Alkali (Minority Leader, Adamawa State House of Assembly), among others.
