Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has called on Nigerians to rise above political affiliations and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in its mission to reform the country.
He particularly praised the developmental strides being championed in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike.
Ortom made the appeal during a visit to inspect ongoing projects in Abuja alongside the FCT Minister.
He stressed the importance of unity and collective effort in nation-building, stating that the task of fixing Nigeria should not be left to the President alone.
“Mr. President alone cannot fix Nigeria. We need to join hands with him, irrespective of party affiliations. Let us put politics aside and support what is good,” Ortom said.
The former governor, who has been residing in Abuja since 2008, expressed admiration for the infrastructural transformation taking place in the nation’s capital, describing it as unprecedented.
“I’ve seen several Ministers of the FCT, but this is the first time I am witnessing monumental development in Abuja.
“I am very proud of what my friend and colleague, Nyesom Wike, is doing.” He noted.
Highlighting the inclusive nature of President Tinubu’s leadership, Ortom applauded the decision to appoint Wike, a prominent member of the opposition to a key ministerial position.
“If Mr. President was a partisan leader, he wouldn’t have appointed Wike, who is from the opposition. But he saw capacity, and that’s leadership,” he added.
He specifically referenced the newly developed Kugbo and Mabushi bus terminals.
“I’ve seen Kugbo and Mabushi terminals, these are facilities we usually see abroad. To now see them in our own capital is something to celebrate.
“With what I see today, I need a guide to move around. That’s how much the city has changed in just one year.” He said.
