The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has called on citizens to maintain hope and recognize the progress being made through the government’s ongoing reforms.
Speaking in a video made by the agency, Issa-Onilu acknowledged the strain many Nigerians are currently experiencing but insisted that “the good news is that the reforms are working.”
He emphasized that while the economic crisis has triggered inflation, job losses, and general hardship, several structural policy shifts are beginning to yield positive results.
“In all this, there are plenty of positive testimonies.
“At NOA, we would continue to showcase the gains through real and everyday people.” The DG said.
Issa-Onilu’s remarks come at a time when many Nigerians are grappling with the soaring cost of living, a weakened naira, and increasing public frustration over fuel subsidy removal and foreign exchange liberalization; two major reform policies introduced under the current administration.
Although concerned groups have lauded the intention behind the reforms, they warn that the short-term effects have pushed millions into deeper poverty.
However, the NOA chief urged patience, stressing that the administration remains committed to building a sustainable and prosperous future.
“These reforms are not cosmetic—they are foundational.
“Nation-building takes time, and we must stay the course.” He added.
The Director General also hinted at plans by the NOA to intensify public awareness campaigns, aimed at fostering a sense of national resilience and educating citizens on the long-term benefits of the policies now in place.
