The Federal Government has placed popular Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as Kwam 1, on a national no-fly list.
This directive follows a disturbing safety breach at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
According to reports from relevant aviation agencies and video footage reviewed by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Kwam 1 engaged in what has been described as a reckless and dangerous act by physically obstructing a ValueJet aircraft from taxiing to the runway.
Despite repeated efforts by airport officials, he reportedly moved across the tarmac to block the plane’s path, preventing it from proceeding with takeoff.
The Minister condemned the act as a grave violation of international and domestic aviation safety regulations, likening it to a hostage situation that could have resulted in fatalities.
While there were initial claims from Kwam 1’s associates that he was merely holding a bottle of water or alcohol, the Minister made it clear that the real issue was not what he carried, but his deliberate obstruction of an active aircraft.
The incident also sparked concern over the actions of the ValueJet pilot and captain, who reportedly began taxiing without confirming that the obstruction had been cleared.
Although their licenses have since been suspended by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Minister criticized what he called one-sided disciplinary action.
He stressed that both parties breached standard aviation safety protocol and must face equal consequences under the law.
In response, the Minister directed the NCAA to immediately place Kwam 1 on the national no-fly list pending the outcome of a full investigation.
All airlines, domestic and international, have been instructed to enforce the ban.
