The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (Mayor of Port Harcourt), Honourable Ezebunwo Ichemati, has called on NDE’RINYA REBISI (Rebisi WOMEN) to pray for him and Governor Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS.
The Mayor sought the mothers’ prayers when he visited the women during their monthly meeting at the Oromeruezimgbu town hall in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area Monday morning.
He said the visit to them was born out of the honor they gave to him by accompanying him to the Rivers State Government House on the day the governor met with the people of the Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality, from 4 LGAs of the 23 LGAs in the State.
“The other day, Rebisi Women made myself and our team proud and on that day I saw the most beautiful, organized, and uniformed women group ever.
“That is why I said I must come here to thank you, for not just coming out but for comporting yourself very well to the extent of being recognized and commended for being well organized among other groups, at the Government House.
“They say the way you appear, the way you dress, the way you address yourself, is how people will address you, and on that day, you carried yourselves high, and you will continue to carry yourselves higher in Jesus name.”
Honourable Ichemati described mothers as the best, saying it necessitated his pleading for their prayer and support.
“I cannot do anything without your prayers and support as ma other. Regardless of losing my mother at a very early age, she gave me good training and indoctrinated in me that mothers are the best and a mother does not mean your biological mother alone, that is why I want you to pray for me and to support me.
“While praying for me, I would also beg you to pray for the man who saw the need for a youth who is an orphan, without a godfather, without a godmother, whose father was not a political elite, from nowhere the governor saw the need for me to man the exalted office as the caretaker chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area,” the Mayor added.
He promised never to disappoint the governor, Nde’Rinya Rebisi, and the good people of Port Harcourt while assuring the women of partnership in their programs and the intention of his administration to have them benefit in his administration’s empowerment scheme which he said slots would be given to them as he made an instant financial commitment to their upcoming program aimed at stopping the Iwhuruohna (Ikwerre) language from going on extinction.
Earlier in her remarks, Igwugwu Eze, Dr. Juliet Elikwu, the Leader of the women and wife of His Royal Majesty, Barrister Uche Isaiah Elikwu, Eze Epara Rebisi XII (Paramount Ruler of Port Harcourt) solicited the support of the Mayor for their programs, especially the one coming on the 5th of August 2024 tailored towards teaching and encouraging the speaking of the Iwhuruohna language.
Her Royal Majesty thanked the Mayor for coming, saying the Nde’Rinya Rebisi as apolitical people cannot fight the decision of Almighty God who made him the Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, and Governor Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS as the Governor of Rivers State at this time while assuring the Mayor and the Governor of their continuous support, no matter whose Ox is gored.
The high point of the visit was the fervent prayers offered by the Nne (Mother) Rebisi and her women, for the good health and long life of the governor, the Mayor, and members of their cabinets using the Mayor as the point of contact for the governor, and the Chief of Staff, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Honourable Wechie Ndubuisi Raymond as the point of contact for everyone working with the Mayor and those working with Governor Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS.
