Sevilla have confirmed that Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho has left the club after both parties reached mutual agreement to terminate his contract.
The 28-year-old striker joined Sevilla last season but struggled to secure a regular starting place.
His departure now makes him a free agent ahead of the final weeks of the transfer window.
In a brief statement released on Monday September 1, 2025, the club announced:

“An agreement has been reached with Kelechi Iheanacho to rescind his contract. Best of luck for the future, Senior Man”.
The striker had been brought in to strengthen the attack following his free transfer from Leicester City, where he spent seven years and scored 61 goals across all competitions.
The Super Eagles forward, who has 58 caps and and was part of Nigeria’s squad to the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), is now a free agent.
Iheanacho first rose to prominence at Manchester City, graduating from their academy and winning the 2013 FIFA World Cup with Nigeria.
Reports revealed Celtic see him as valuable addition to their attacking options, given his pedigree in top European leagues and proven track record in front of goal.
However, interest is also expected from clubs in Turkey and the Middle East, which could complicate negotiations.
With the free agent market still active beyond the transfer deadline, Iheanacho’s future could be resolved in the coming days ahead of a move to Celtic Park would mark his first venture into Scottish football.
