CALL TO REVOKE UNDEVELOPED LANDS IN OW MUNICIPALITY IN THE MAKING

Imo House of Assembly has held another Plenary Wednesday calling on His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodinma to create alternative road to help the people.

Motion to do environmental impact assessment to work on the road while directing on the the ministry of Works, environment and iroma to develop alternative route in the area to the rest of the state.

However, Motion to urge the governor of Imo state to direct the ministry of Works, environment and iroma by Hon Hon Udeze from Ideator North co sponsored by five honorable members.

Linking ideato North to other part of the state. Noting that motorists enter into people’s farms and businesses thereby,. Nkwere, ogboko and others Linkin ideator routes have be cut off.

Urging the governor to direct the commissioner for works to rehabilitate and put to shape the road linking communities in the area to the state roads. To expedite actions to rehabilitate the roads while seconded by Hon Vitalis Azodo ideato South who stated that the motion is timely and important.

Hon. Ernest Okechukwu said that it is no longer news that the senator has sponsored such bill but hinted that alternative measure should be constructed on the Mgbee, Nkwere road and others to access the state road.

That his people have been crying and need a remedy to this.

Speaking in favour of the bill, member representing Nkwere, Chisom oJukwu supported the motion as a co sponsors of the motion.

He stated that the road has been in dilapidated before the inception of governor Uzodinma but hinted that governor Uzodinma has given Orlu road a concerned attention.

He added that the palliative of governor Uzodinma has done well and needed to do more to put the roads inorder to improve both business lives of both Nkwere and ideato. Called on Governor to charge the ministries to commence work immediately.

Bar ikenna ihezue of Orlu state constituency, said he was delighted on the format the motion was presented but however supported the motion for an alternative access to be created.

That the bad road has affected agriculture, economy and traditional activities of the people while calling on the governor to help out.

Hon Vitalis Azodo later stated that Orlu, Akokwa road including ideato North and South are seriously affected by erosion and bad road., But begging Governor Uzodinma to provide alternate road while completing the construction on that road.

However the motion to urge Gov Uzodinma to direct the commissioner for lands and ministry of Works to revoke certificate of occupancy in Owerri Capita city.

Hon Engr Ikpamazie of Mbaitolu state constituency expressed worry over the inability of land owners to develop allotted lands in the municipality while stating the maximum period of two years to revoke the lands.

He pleaded the governor to authorize the ministry of lands through the committee on lands to call fir seizure of affected lands after the duration of six months.

Ikpamazie said such insight came from his background when he was the MD of OCDA, that fir more than twenty years alot of fenced lands are left fallows without completion which has turned to be criminal den.

He decried the delay of such in developed lands in the municipality while sighting a certificate of occupancy bearing two years order to develop.

Majority Leader Kanayo Onyemaechi Owerri West, rose to second the motion raised by Engr Ikpamazie.

Orlu state constituency member added his voice to the motion while stating that such motion is laudable. He however urged the house to call for legal remedies to be taken while asking for Ministry of Lands to revoke CFO if a land is left undeveloped.

Ikeduru member supported the motion with a suggestion, stating that a little time should be given until the house will finish what they have to avoid attracting discrepancies in the state.

He added that most lands are owned by leaders in the state and should be given time to develop it alongside other allotees.

Hon Ogbodo, member representing Owerri municipal said from for long Owerri municipal has allotted lands to developers but regretted while many lands are undeveloped. He suggested that all Un- used land be revoked without further delay.

Ngor Okpala member also supported the motion and hinted that in this period of insecurity lands are not suppose to be be undeveloped while calling on the governor to give notice to the owners of such lands before possible seizure.

Member representing Ohaji Egbema, Osuoha was in support of the motion and called on Governor Uzodinma to look into factors while these lands and layouts are not developed.

He said that some of these lands have no good planning, electric poles and access which could have led to the non development.

Hon Onyemaechi added that he as a the Honourable chairman on lands suggested that House of Assembly Adhoc be set up. The way forward is to create an adhoc to work with the ministry of lands. “That the ministry of lands do not report to the assembly adhoc and regretted the way lands are been allotted in the state”

Nkwere member, Hon. OJukwu Chisom supported the Majority leader to set up a house of Assembly Adhoc to work inter alia to overseer the functions of the lands ministry.

Motion to support the amendment to set up Adhoc committee on lands. “To take into cognizance the situation in the state and try to do proper oversight of what Lands Ministry is doing to keep the state afloat.

Hon Udeze also added his voice on the industrial lands that has not been developed than the lands allotted to individuals. Let us concentrate on lands allotted to industries than private land owners.
