President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held a high-level meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris.
In a statement posted on his official account on Tuesday, President Tinubu described the engagement as “productive,” noting that discussions focused on consolidating existing ties and exploring new areas of cooperation for “mutual prosperity and global stability.”
While details of the closed-door session were not disclosed, sources close to the Nigerian presidency indicated that both leaders likely discussed a broad range of issues, including security cooperation in the Sahel and West Africa, trade and investment opportunities, climate action, and the role of Nigeria and France in advancing peace and stability across Africa.
The meeting also comes at a time when Nigeria is seeking to attract greater foreign investment to revamp its economy and France is looking to deepen its strategic partnerships on the continent amid growing global competition for influence in Africa.
