It is no longer news that leaders and stakeholders from PDP Anambra South senatorial district has unanimously endorsed Lolo Uju Osude for the position of the Anambra PDP State Secretary.
Recall that the Anambra South senatorial district leaders and stakeholders held a progressive meeting on Friday, 1st April, 2022 in order to reach a unity list for the zone ahead of the Party’s slated Congress in Anambra state.
One of the major reason why the Convener and the acting Chairman of the PDP Anambra South senatorial district Chief J.J Malizu convened the above meeting was for the zone to go into the state slated party congress with her first eleven (11) and a United forum.
A brief look at how Lady Uju Osude emerged as the consensus candidate from Aguata LGA:
The PDP State Secretary position was micro zoned to Aguata local government area at the PDP Anambra South senatorial district meeting earlier this year.
The micro zoning of offices by the PDP Anambra South zonal executives was done in order to create a balance between some marginalized areas in the senatorial district as currently witnessed in the current state executive Positions.
At the initial stage, over six (6) aspirants from Aguata LGA declared their interest to serve the party in the State Secretary capacity.
A lot of consultations and political intrigues with a lot more historical review took place by the Aguata PDP stakeholders which prompted some of the aspirants to withdraw from the race in the spirit of equity and fairness, therefore leaving behind only two contestants, namely:-
- Lolo Uju B.Osude from Igbo-Ukwu, Aguata Constituency II.
- Chief Tony Offiah (Akajiugo Uga) from Uga, Aguata Constituency I.
After due considerations/consultations by the stakeholders of Aguata PDP decided to present Lolo Uju B. Osude as her consensus candidate for the position of the PDP State Secretary in the spirit of equity, fairness and natural justice.
Some of the major reasons why Lolo Uju B. Osude was presented to the Anambra South senatorial district as the Aguata PDP consensus candidate was;
(1) Lolo Uju Osude joined the Peoples Democratic Party in 2009 and contested to represent Aguata constituency II through PDP despite her mandate was twarted, she remained a loyal and a committed party woman till date.
(2) She was a member of the PDP national convention planning committee in 2011, 2016 and 2021; playing a huge role in advancing the cause of the Party in this capacity. In 2015, she was a member of PDP National presidential campaign Council and in 2018, a member of Anambra PDP gubernatorial election campaign committee (OHO).
(3) Lolo has great academic and professional qualifications, work experience and great personality.
(4) Uju Osude is from Aguata Constituency II, therefore equalling the huge marginalization which was witnessed in the last dispensation where Aguata Constituency I got two state positions – State Financial Secretary and Ex-officio which was occupied by Hon. Okey Okpala from Amesi (State Financial Secretary) and the same Chief Tony Offiah (State Ex-officio- 3).
(5) Aguata constituency 1 will also be presenting a candidate for the Federal House of Representatives on the account of the rotational agreement between the two state constituencies in Aguata LGA and therefore fairness and natural justice suggests that the party position microzoned to Aguata LGA should move to Aguata II constituency.
(6) Finally, the Aguata PDP stakeholders considered the PDP serious emphasis on gender inclusiveness and therefore opted to make history of producing the first woman Anambra PDP State secretary in the person of lady Uju Osude and hence her presentation to the leaders and stakeholders of the PDP Anambra South senatorial district in Nnewi which prompted her collective endorsement.
