9News Nigeria extends warm gratitude to Imo state chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, on the recent conferment of honourary fellowship to their State Chairperson, Dr Mrs Dorathy Nnaji by the institute of corporate and public sector professionals ICPSP.
9News Nigeria correspodent gathered that in the occasion, a memoranda of understanding MoU, was signed between Imo chapter of the Nigeria Association of women Journalists NAWOJ, and the Institute of Corporate and Public Sector Professionals ICPSP, to build capacity and enhance professional development of women Journalists in the state.
A conferment of Honorary Fellowship on the Imo NAWOJ Chairperson, Dr. Mrs Dorothy Nnaji took place at the NUJ Secretariate and witnessed by the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo state, Chief Chris Akaraonye.
Speaking at the occasion,the Imo NUJ Boss, Chief Chris Akaraonye noted that the only way to ensure the progress of members of any organization was through effective partnerships that would impact massively on their professional development enabling them compare favourably with their counterparts across the globe.
Akaraonye expressed satisfaction with the partnership established between the Institute of Corporate and Public Sector Professionals and NAWOJ, as he indicated interest to extend same to the general body of journalists in the state.
He appreciated the ICPSP for the partnership and commended Dr. Nnaji for her visionary and proactive leadership, adding that the MoU which had been signed was the start of a landmark achievement.
In her remarks the Imo NAWOJ Chairperson Dr. Nnaji, enthusiastically stated the association’s readiness to collaborate with the Institute in its programmes.
She noted that having heard good things about them from counterparts outside the state, she was optimistic that Imo NAWOJ would also benefit greatly from the new partnership, promising to work together in harmony and understanding to foster a long lasting relationship.
” We will work in accordance and adhere to the MoU,while we hope that the same will be accorded to us. We look forward to attending your seminars especially those that have to do with crossing the shores of the country. Thank you very much.We also want to assure you that we will help sell the tenets of this Institute to Imo people after we have reaped once and twice from it.”
In an address, the President of ICPSP, Dr. Folashade Airebamien, represented by Mr. John Chima, said the mandate of the institute was to support professionals whose daily efforts impact people’s lives and the society at large, and bring out the best in them.
He categorically stated that ICPSP as a career building institute is happy to enter into an agreement with NAWOJ through an MoU following laid down guidelines to build the capacity and enhance professional development of the women Journalists.
Recall that this event took place at a time the state chapter on NUJ is saddled with enormous responsibility to sanitize the union and address ailing issues bedevilling the union leadership. It is a call in the right direction for NAWOJ as an offshoot of NUJ to play good roles to ose the ranks and make peace among members.
